Slack...I know...

I know, I know...I've been uber slack lately about blogging...but hey, life gets hectic.

Well of course I've been working out a lot! Actually since I've been getting acupuncture on my hip the past few weeks, I've been able to run again without pain! So I've been running and adding in more cardio work by using the Cardio Wave & stair machine. I've found that I can actually read while I'm on the Cardio Wave and the stair machine...how people run on a treadmill I'll never figure that out...but I've enjoyed reading while on the machines...it relaxes me even more and gives me more time to read.

Cardio Wave

Jason has really been enjoying playing golf with his friends and just anything golf. (Even watching golf...I'm not much on watching golf...) Since he's been playing golf so much, Jason has been trying to teach me how to play golf, well teach me how to swing first. Most of you know that I'm not the most coordinated person, so yeah...it's not the easiest for me. I also get frustrated easy so that doesn't help. But I've gone to the driving range with him twice, and it was fun. (Just don't go when you're arms are already sore...it makes it worse!) We did get to go golf my speed (putt-putt) for a date night though...I had fun!

Of course I've been working too. We have finally made some great headway on the upgrade for the application that I support. We are in the process of implementing it, which takes a lot of documentation and work since we have to ensure that our system is fully validated. But we can do it and we will be the first for this version of the application!

In the past few weeks I've also gotten 2 new baby cousins! (One got here today!) My dad's side of the family just seems to keep growing. I can't wait till we have a chance to go back to Hickory for a visit! I miss getting to see my family but I think they understand that Jason & I have a life, home, and work here in Raleigh, that keeps us busy.

I've also been trying to cook more. I even came up with my own Rosemary Garlic Cream Sauce recipe that was AWESOME with some Mushroom Ravioli (my favorite thing to eat!) Jason really liked it too! I've come up with recipes before, but trust me, they don't always turn out that well.

So life is busy, but we get along! The next few weeks are also busy but we have a few fun things snuck in...like Lyndsye coming to visit, going to see my nephew (baby Allan) and a slip-n-slide party at my college roommate's place!

Have fun...life's short!

I Feel Like Running...

Okay, some of you are probably going to really think I've lost my mind...but yes, I am going to run in a 5K at the end of May. I've been running a lot at the gym and I've enjoyed it, so Jonathan (my trainer) mentioned to me one day that I should start to run races. (Yes, I thought he was crazy...me running with other people around that I could accidentally harm with my clumsiness...) But I started to think about it more and Jason brought it up that he would like to run in a 5K sometime as well, I figured what the hell...

So with a little help, I found a race to run in, it's nothing big it just looks like something fun to start out with. It's the Skirt Chaser 5K Race here in Raleigh. The winner gets a prize, but I'm just going to run to see how well I actually do. I normally run on a treadmill, so I'm going to have to start running outside to get used to it. I have to actually watch where I'm going and breathe at the same time! (Geez...that's going to be hard!)

The race is the weekend after I get back from Forks, so hopefully I won't do too bad after not getting to run like I normally would for a week. But we shall see!

I'll try to keep you all updated on how the training goes.

We Never Seem to Slow down...

We have made it through 2 entire weeks without meat! I'm doing okay, but I think Jason is starting to miss it.

Last week was a very busy week with work and such. I had two very early mornings where I had to get up at 4:30 am to train a new safety employee in Europe. Unfortunately, on the second morning of training, the database was down, so I had to wake up very early this morning to finish the training.

Friday night Jason and I decide to try out First Friday. It's were some of the local bars and art galleries stay open late and have drinks and specials. We had great weather and enjoyed walking around downtown Raleigh for the night. (Sadly, even though I've lived in Raleigh for 8 years now, I've never really taken the time to walk around downtown to see what is there.) We found a lot of new places to try and had a great time. We first went to Artspace, where we saw some things we liked, others we didn't care for so much. There were a couple of the artists there painting as well. Saturday, we went to the CD release for Nathan Oliver in Chapel Hill at Local 506. Garrison plays trumpet in the band for them. They are pretty good, I'd not heard them before, but I enjoyed the show. We had good weather again, so we were able to walk around Chapel Hill a little before we met up with some people for dinner.

Sunday, I finally got a little time to relax. It was so nice out, most of the afternoon, I sat out on our deck and read some in The Host: A Novel. Since Lyndsye turned me on to the Twilight Saga, I've been reading a lot more. I didn't realize how much I'd missed reading. The Host is by the same author, Stephenie Meyer. I like her writing style, so I hope she continues writing. Once I'm finished with the book, I'll let you know about it.
